Jiangsu's photovoltaic industry "accelerated" in the first quarter

Publish Time: 2024-05-16

Reporters recently learned from State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Co., Ltd. that in the first quarter of this year, Jiangsu's total electricity consumption was 196.422 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 11.58%. Among them, photovoltaic equipment and component manufacturing performed outstandingly, with a year-on-year increase of 56.01%. Photovoltaic The industry is showing a momentum of "accelerating" development.

State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power statistics show that in the first quarter of this year, Jiangsu's newly installed photovoltaic power generation capacity exceeded 4.92 million kilowatts, setting a new historical high for the same period; photovoltaic power generation exceeded 9 billion kilowatt hours for the first time, reaching 9.695 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 43.63%.

In recent years, Jiangsu has accelerated the development of the new energy industry. The scale of the photovoltaic industry has expanded rapidly, and the agglomeration effect has begun to appear. At present, industrial agglomerations led by Changzhou, Yancheng, Huai'an, Suqian and other places have formed, showing southern Jiangsu, central Jiangsu, and Jiangsu. The cooperative development of Beijing and Northern China is in good shape.

At the same time, the chain continues to extend and the structure becomes increasingly optimized. Jiangsu already has a complete industrial chain from high-purity polysilicon and silicon wafers to cells and modules to photovoltaic power generation applications. "Especially in recent years, the photovoltaic industry chain has gradually shifted from 'heavy' at the top to 'light' at the bottom, to a balanced development of the entire chain." said Deng Junhua, director of the Digital Operations Department of the State Grid Jiangsu Marketing Service Center.

Electric power data shows that from 2019 to 2023, the proportion of electricity consumption by Jiangsu silicon material, silicon wafer and other photovoltaic production enterprises in the entire photovoltaic industry dropped from 64.2% to 57%, and the proportion of electricity consumption by photovoltaic component or finished product manufacturers rose from 35.8% to 43%.

"The decrease and increase in electricity consumption reflects the obvious trend of structural transformation and upgrading of Jiangsu's photovoltaic industry. The entire photovoltaic industry chain is continuing to grow and its resilience continues to increase," Deng Junhua said.

The optimization and upgrading of the photovoltaic industry structure has further highlighted the leading role of leading enterprises. As an important force in the development of new productivity, Jiangsu actively supports national-level specialized and new photovoltaic enterprises to accelerate their development and lays an important foundation for the development of new productivity in the industry.

The reporter learned from the Jiangsu Photovoltaic Industry Association that the number of photovoltaic-related listed companies in Jiangsu currently ranks among the top in the country. National-level specialized and new "little giant" photovoltaic companies are located in the upstream of silicon materials and silicon wafers, and in the midstream of cells, cell components and In terms of downstream application systems, the photovoltaic industry has basically formed a pattern of large enterprises taking the lead and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, building a complete and tough photovoltaic industry chain with outstanding competitiveness.
